The Androgyne Papyrus: Book One
THE ANDROGYNE PAPYRUS
A TOM AND CHIARA MYSTERY SERIES
In Book One, thanks to a twist of fate, the Apostle Paul's lost Letter to the Laodiceans shows up in an ancient book of heresies tucked away in a Venice monastery. The letter holds up Jesus Christ as true man and true God...and true women. And makes a case for the equality of women in the hierarchy of the Church. As word of this eye-popping discovery spreads, euphoria and panic rock Catholic institutions and officials.
Marquette University theology student Tom Weathering and his partner Chiara O'Keeffe thrill at the prospect of adding a letter to the Bible that empowers women. They dub the letter The Androgyne Papyrus. Not so much Vatican heresy hunter and Sodality leader Abbot Roberto Cavalier. He sends his agents to the monastery as well as to the university. His orders: destroy the writing and do away with anyone who uses it to challenge male authority in the Church.
When a church bombing nearly takes their lives, Tom and Chiara, together with their daughter Faith, move to the University of Goettingen in Germany. There they find safety and help from a German widow named Frau Wilhelm and a university professor named Zimmer. But safety and security are short-lived as Book Two and Three plunge Tom and Chiara into the middle of mayhem and betrayal at the hands of the Sodality as well as of a close friend.
